L.P.C.B. Certification Update L.P.C.B. Testing Accreditation And What It Means

As of April 2016 BRE Global Limited / LPCB testing in the U.K. has been awarded accreditation according to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 as a laboratory to test safes and cabinets.

Currently however LPCB are not accredited to test ATM safes completely as they have no accreditation to perform solid or gas explosives tests.

Deposit Systems EN1143-2 are also not within their scope.

A more important point to note is that according to UKAS, currently LPCB are still not accredited as a certification body (ISO/IEC 17065) for issuing certificates according to EN 1143-1, EN1143-2 or EN 14450. (October 2016)

I.S.R.G. have written to BRE Global Limited / LPCB and asked them to please alert us if they achieve accreditation for certification of safes and cabinets so we can notify the insurance and safe industry in Ireland as soon as possible, but at this time October 2016 BRE Global Limited / LPCB is still not an accredited certification mark in Ireland or any European country outside of the U.K.

If or when BRE Global Limited / LPCB certification is accredited this will not mean that units certified prior to such accreditation can be treated as units certified under EN1143 or EN14450 standard by a body accredited to ISO/IEC 17065.

Accreditation is not retrospective.

It will however mean that LPCB can take its place along side and on an equal footing with other accredited European certification marks.
